Department of Bengali was established in the year 1957. The department offers undergraduate courses - B.A. (General and Honors) with Part I, Part II, and Part III and CBCS system as per University of Calcutta norm.

The Department has organized Departmental Seminar in February 2015 & 2016 to observe “International Mother Language Day”.

The Department has also arranged Excursion for teachers and students on 16th January 2015 at Debanandapur and on 11th-12th March 2016 at Shantiniketan.

The department also conducts Quiz competitions and publishes Wall Magazine on regular basis.
