ADMISSION RULES & PROCEDURE

 

Students are selected for admission by the Admission Committee of the College according to the admission policy of the college and the rules and regulations prescribed by the University of Calcutta. The students desirous of getting admission will have to satisfy the requirements prescribed by “Admission and Examination Regulation”, University of Calcutta and the college authority.  The on line application in prescribed form will have to be submitted within the notified date as mentioned in our college web site. All students, selected for admission, will have to  produce documents in original and attested copies duly signed by the Head of the Institution last attended and furnish two recent stamp sized photographs and requisite fees at the time of admission.

 

                                 i.            It is to be noted that students will be admitted strictly according to the marks obtained in the H.S /(10+2) examination (merit list to be published time to time in our web site). Mere submission of filled in application form does not guarantee admission. All admissions are provisional, subject to the approval of the University of Calcutta.

 

                                ii.            As per Govt. rules & orders seat reservation is available for S.C./S.T. Physically handicapped students.

 

                              iii.            The students who have shown their extraordinary performance in State or National level sports and games (both outdoor and indoor) shall be given preference at the time of admission.

 

                              iv.            The candidate who have passed the Higher Secondary (Vocational) Course (10+2 level) conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education & Training shall also be eligible to seek admission to the 1st year B. A./ B. Com. (General/Major) Courses of studies as per rules of C.U., 2009.

 

RULES AND ELIGIBILITY FOR DEGREE COURSE

(a)     A candidate shall not be allowed to take up the subjects under the heading (A) if he/she has not passed the subject (s) mentioned under the heading (B) in the previous qualifying examination.

(b) A candidate with a view to taking up honours must  obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in Subject or 55% marks in the subject or related subjects or related subjects at the previous qualifying examination or 50% marks in aggregate when the candidate takes up honours in the subject not included in his/her previous qualifying examination. For the purpose of admission to the B.Com Honours Course in Accounting and Finance, ‘related subject’ shall mean Mathematics, Cost Accountancy and Principles of Management.

 

For Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe Candidates, the minimum requirement for taking up honours is 40% marks in aggregate or 40% marks in the subject/ related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
Aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in ‘ Top-Four’ subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate in accordance with ‘ Calcutta University Admission Regulations 2009’.

 

(c)      A candidate who appeared but could not obtain pass marks in any corresponding subject or related subject at  the previous qualifying examination will not be allowed to take up Honours in that subject.

 

(d)      No candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Economics if he/she has not passed the Mathematics at the previous qualifying examination.

 

Note : 1.The above mentioned conditions may be changed. The criterion for admission to Degree Course is notified in the Notice Board.

 

            2. For B.A Hons. Degree Course one elective subject must be chosen from the Humanities Division & for B.Sc. Hons. Course one elective subject must be chosen from the Science Division.
